How to Make Your YouTube Channel Unique

 Google's video-sharing platform is attempting to become more integrated with social media in general, and Google+ in particular. Customizing your YouTube Channel and taking use of the site's SEO benefits is more vital than ever.

The current revamp of YouTube has resulted in headlines such as latest Tech News however I believe that such predictions of the site's collapse are far too premature! YouTube's revamp has resulted in a cleaner appearance.



How do I make the new look my own? Channel on YouTube

To customise the channel, go to your channel page and click one of the two Edit buttons. You can choose an Avatar and background image using the top button "Edit Channel." All you need for your Avatar is a square image of yourself looking lovely.

There are two more tabs in the Edit Channel settings besides the Appearance tab: "Info and Settings" and "Featured Tab."

I chose the "Blogger" layout under the "Featured Tab" because it is the most visible.

I set Featured Tab as my Default Tab in the "Info and Settings" tab, ensuring that my favourite video is the first thing people see when they visit my channel website. "Always take subscribed viewers to the feed tab" and "Make my channel visible on YouTube" should both be checked. Make that the Title, Description, and Tags fields all contain keywords.

How to make the new YouTube Channel sidebar your own

The new sidebar is another element of the channel page that you can customise. And now there's a lot of room to put anchor text links in there.

To change this, click the second "Edit" button. Under the "About..." heading, write a brief channel synopsis. Put as many links as you can in this box.

You can also add any other YouTube channels you own here, or choose to keep out details like your age!

Connect your Google+ profile to your YouTube channel.


In case you didn't know, YouTube is owned by Google, which is working hard to synchronise its services as much as possible. As a result, creating a Google account is highly recommended.

If you already have a Google account, you already have a Google+ account. As a result, ensure sure your Google+ profile is complete.

By putting the link into the channel sidebar when modifying the channel, you can link your YouTube channel to your Google+ profile. Once this is done, Google will recognise that your YouTube channel is linked to your site and will give both the same authority.
